Lesson Overview

“While it is not a requirement for a Class G2 road test, a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) approved beginner driver education (BDE) course is a great idea.

You may be eligible to reduce the time you spend at the Class G1 level if you successfully complete an MTO-approved BDE course with an MTO-licensed school and driving instructor. Completing an MTO-approved BDE course may also provide potential insurance rate discounts.”

The course includes 20 hours of online material and 10 hours of digital course. Upon completion, you will need minimum 10 hours of on-road tuition (included). To qualify for MTO certification, all requirements must be completed and certified by both the online class provider and the on-road instructor.

Please note: Completing the course does not mean that you will be ready for the road test. You may need addtional on-road hours to reach test standard.

The BDE course does not cover the fee for the road test or the use of a car on the day of the test.

My journey includes roles as a driving instructor, truck driver, city bus operator, parcel delivery agent, and City Bus Operator Trainer with the London Transit Commission in Canada.
